Frequently Asked Questions
1. What services do you offer?
We offer psychological therapy, assessment, and consultation services for adults, children, and young people. Sessions can be delivered in-person at our Loughton clinic or online.
2. How do I book an appointment?
You can contact us via email at drbrittnijones@bepsychology.co.uk or use the contact form on our website. We’ll get in touch to understand your needs and match you with a suitable psychologist.
3. How much do sessions cost?
Self-funded sessions are £150 per session. If you are using health insurance, rates may vary depending on the insurer. We’ll confirm your fee before your first appointment.
4. Do you accept health insurance?
Yes, we work with several major health insurance providers. You will need to provide your membership number and any pre-authorisation codes before starting therapy. Please note: insurance does not cover missed appointments or late cancellations — these will be invoiced to you directly.
5. What is your cancellation policy?
We require at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. If less than 48 hours’ notice is given, the full session fee will be charged. This policy also applies to clients using health insurance.
6. How can I pay for sessions?
Self-funding clients can pay via:
- Bank transfer (we will email you an invoice)
- Card (paid in session or via a payment link sent to you) or cash (if attending in-person, to be paid on the day of the session)
Payment is expected on the day of the session.
7. Is therapy confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is central to our work. The only exceptions are where there is a risk of harm to you or others, or if we are legally required to share information (e.g. safeguarding, court orders). We’ll always aim to discuss this with you first.
8. Will my sessions be recorded?
No. We do not record sessions unless there is a specific reason and you give written consent. Clients must not record sessions without the therapist’s agreement.
9. Can I contact my therapist between sessions?
You can email your therapist if needed, but we encourage communication to remain within session times whenever possible. Please avoid using text or messaging apps unless this is agreed with your therapist in advance.
10. What if I have a concern or complaint?
We welcome feedback. If you are concerned about any aspect of your care, please contact us or see our Complaints Policy. We take all concerns seriously and aim to resolve them sensitively and fairly.
11. What should I do in an emergency?

12. How often will I have therapy sessions?
Session frequency is tailored to your needs and agreed between you and your psychologist. Most clients attend weekly sessions, especially at the beginning of therapy. As therapy progresses, some clients reduce to fortnightly or monthly sessions. Your psychologist will discuss what’s most helpful for your goals and circumstances, and you can review the plan at any time.
