Dr Sheryl Hayfron
Dr Sheryl Hayfron is a Clinical Psychologist with over ten years of experience providing therapeutic and relational support to individuals across the lifespan in a range of settings. Her work has included supporting children, young people, adults, older adults, and families across education, community, social care, and NHS mental health services.
Sheryl offers psychological assessment and therapy for children, young people, adults, older adults, and families.
Sheryl is passionate about creating a trusting and non-judgemental space where people feel able to bring their whole selves. Sheryl understands that every person's story and needs are unique and believes therapy should reflect this. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms or problems, she takes time to develop a shared understanding of what matters most to individuals, their experiences, and the wider context of their life.
Sheryl’s approach is informed by systemic thinking, allowing her to consider how relationships, family, culture, identity, and life experiences can influence wellbeing. She combines this perspective with evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and narrative approaches. While these therapeutic models inform her practice, Sheryl prioritises understanding what is most helpful to each person, tailoring assessment and therapy to their individual needs and goals.
Sheryl’s integrative approach can be beneficial to individuals navigating a range of difficulties, including anxiety, low mood, trauma, loss, emotional challenges, relationship difficulties, the impact of physical health conditions, and significant life transitions. This approach can be particularly helpful for those who are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain and would value a space to explore and gain a deeper understanding of their experiences.
Sheryl values the unique stories that people bring to therapy and aims to create a space where individual’s perspectives, values, and lived experiences are respected, supporting meaningful and lasting change.
